Distribution without the data trail

SODA is a self-initiated product concept exploring a new model for digital music distribution — a response to the growing complexity of streaming platforms and account-based ecosystems. I wanted to challenge the assumption that every digital experience requires a login, a profile, and a data trail.

SODA replaces traditional user accounts with unique, time-bound access codes. Each music release is distributed through a secure code that unlocks a dedicated download experience — a direct, intentional interaction between artist and listener that feels exclusive rather than transactional.

From concept to working platform

The concept was shaped through my long-term creative collaboration with Jean-Michel Jarre, whose approach to merging art, technology, and immersive experiences strongly influenced SODA’s direction. Together we explored how digital distribution could feel more like an event — something deliberate and collectible.

  • Defined the product vision and UX principles
  • Designed the complete UX and UI system
  • Built architecture around secure code validation and content access
  • Created the visual identity and interaction language
  • Made the download journey intuitive, focused, and frictionless

Validated in the industry

Sony Music later became an active partner and customer, using SODA to explore alternative release strategies and more direct artist-to-fan engagement — validating the platform’s relevance in the broader music landscape. At its core, SODA is an experiment in digital ownership, simplicity, and experience design.
